October 2022 - Positive Mindset

Welcome to our new monthly Counselor Connections blog!

My name is Lora Harder and I have been the Student Advocacy Counselor at Bonnyville Centralized Centralized High School since 2011. I have a social work degree from the University of Regina. I have worked in the social work field for 23 years , the majority of that time working with children and adolescents . As an adolescent, my goal was to have a career as a social worker working with teens and it is an honor that this goal has been realized.  A little about myself is that I enjoy spending time with friends and family, playing games, and reading.

This month we are focusing on fostering a positive mindset which will help us reduce stress and anxiety.  A positive mindset can be described as the tendency to focus on the bright side, expect positive results, and approach challenges with a positive outlook.  One of the ways we are creating a positive mindset at Bonnyville Centralized High School is by creating positive connections through our school teams. School teams give the opportunity for students to foster a positive attitude toward others and themselves by competing in school challenges, school spirit days, and community outreach  events.
